How You Pay

Your options & our ongoing
service fees

Clarity, Transparency, Choice

We are committed to providing you with clear and transparent fees, as well as making sure you understand your options for paying. No two clients or recommendations that we make are the same, and the fees we charge will be dependant on the complexity, time involved, as well as other pensions and investments that you have.

Regardless of the service or work you require from us, we will always:
  • Explain our payment options to you and answer any questions you have.
  • Give you choice over using our ongoing service or using us for a one-off financial transaction.
  • Agree advice fees – we will not charge you until we have agreed with you how we will be paid.
  • Give you a clear explanation of our total fee, the advice or service it relates to, how we’ve calculated it, and when you need to pay it.

VAT – most of the work we carry out is not liable for VAT as we are an intermediation service. However there are occasions when VAT due, in which case we will tell you. In some instances we may charge a fee for our advice even if you do not act on our recommendations, however we will make this very clear to you at the outset.

An initial no-obligation consultation is always at our expense

Our first consultation with you, whether we meet face to face or speak over the telephone, is always at our expense. We will discuss what it is you want to achieve, your wider goals, your current situation and whether we think we can help you. Usually we will also be able to give an indication of what our fees would be at this time for the service you require.

Your Payment Options

Paying us directly

We will always explain our payment options and agree advice and service fees before charging you. This will be set out in our ‘Authority to Proceed’ document. Our fees are also outlined in our ‘Terms of Business’ document.

You may pay us by cheque, credit card, or bank transfer.

From your investment

Should you decide to follow our recommendation and invest, you may authorise the investment provider to deduct our fee for advice from your investment. You may also pay any ongoing service charges from your investment.

In some circumstances this could create a capital gain and a possible tax liability. We would take this into account in our recommendation.

Commission on non-regulated products and mortgages

We no longer receive commission for setting up regulated investment products. However we may receive commission on certain non-regulated products and mortgages. For example, from an insurance company or mortgage lender.

If we do receive commission we will tell you how much in a ‘Key Facts’ illustration.
