Responsible Investing and Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) Assessments on our Investment Funds
At Henderson Stone we believe that Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) issues and the use of ESG investment fund criteria are of increasing importance in giving our clients a more informed choice over their investment selections. We are seeing more of our clients who wish to invest responsibly, taking account of environmental, social and governance issues that may impact long-term investment returns, whilst at the same time reducing their own impact on the environment.
We are therefore pleased to let you know that Quilter Financial Planning have introduced independent ESG Integration assessments for all the funds in our restricted investment proposition.
Each of the 65 multi-asset portfolios chosen from 18 investment houses receive two ESG Integration assessments from an independent research and consultancy firm. The first measures ESG integration at a firm level and indicates how far along the journey of ESG integration the company is, and how committed it is to future improvement. The second measures ESG at a portfolio level and highlights how much the manager uses ESG as an integrated part of their investment process.
The assessments range from 0 for no ESG integration to 0+, 1, 1+, 2, 2+ and up to 3, the top ranking for ESG integration.
For clients already wanting to be more pro-active in having their investment choices align with their ethical beliefs, we have ESG dedicated funds available, and for those who want to place stricter exclusions on their investments, we can reflect your specific ethical preferences through our investment screening process.
Rick Eling, investment director at Quilter Financial Planning states:
“The days of a dichotomy between general investors and ‘green’ investors are long gone. Our research shows that clients and advisers both care about ESG issues… This is only our first step on the way to becoming the UK’s responsible wealth manager of choice.”

Past performance is not a guide to future performance. The value of investments and the income from them can go down as well as up and investors may not get back any of the amount originally invested.
